Colin & Livia — Your Hosts at Snow & Pine

We built Snow & Pine because we wanted to share what living in Levi actually feels like. We host it directly because we think that is the right way to do it.

IIntroduction

We’re Colin and Livia.

We’re Colin and Livia. In 2023, we moved our family from the UK to Levi, Finnish Lapland. Snow & Pine is the cabin we built here — and we host it directly, ourselves, because we think that is the right way to do it.

When you book Snow & Pine, you book with us. When you have a question, it comes to us. When something needs sorting, we sort it. There is no property manager, no agency, and no platform between you and the people who own and built this cabin.

IIThe Story

How we got here.

It started long before Levi.

Before the cabin, before Finland, before any of this — there was the Alps. A chalet, mountains, the particular rhythm of a place built around the seasons and the landscape. We had a taste early on of what it feels like to be somewhere properly: not just visiting, but living in a place where the environment shapes everything about how you spend your days.

We loved it. And then life pulled us back. Jobs, commitments, the accumulation of ordinary things that fills the years when you are not quite paying attention. But the feeling stayed — the feeling of being somewhere that makes you feel properly alive.

Then Levi happened.

We cannot say exactly what it was. The scale of the forest. The silence. The Northern Lights on the first clear night. The particular quality of winter light in this part of Finland that does not exist in the same way anywhere else we had been. Whatever it was, Levi felt like the place we had been trying to articulate for years.

So we took the leap.

In 2023, we stopped deliberating. We moved to Levi with our young family. Snow & Pine came from that — built in 2024, designed from scratch, with the specific intention of giving other people what this place gave us: a few days of being properly somewhere, properly away, in a landscape that is genuinely extraordinary.

IIIWhy Levi

Why Levi?

People ask us this. It is a fair question — Finland is not the obvious destination, and Levi is not where most people from the UK first think of when they imagine moving abroad.

The answer, for us, starts with the seasons. Levi sits above the Arctic Circle at 68°N. The seasons here are not the gradual, forgettable shifts of a temperate climate. They are distinct, complete, and transformative. In winter, the forest fills with snow and the sky goes dark enough to see the Northern Lights from your own doorstep. In summer, the sun barely sets and the forest fills with light that has no equivalent further south.

But Levi is not only beautiful. It works. Good infrastructure, a well-connected village, direct flights through Kittilä Airport, restaurants and activity providers that take quality seriously. It is a place you can reach, stay in genuine comfort, and leave understanding why people return. We came for the landscape. We stayed because Levi kept giving the longer we lived in it.

IVWhy Snow & Pine

Why Snow & Pine?

When we decided to build a cabin to share, we spent a long time thinking about what it should be. The name came fairly early. Snow & Pine — because those are the two things that define this landscape year-round. The pines are always there. The snow comes and transforms them. Between them, they are what this place is.

The cabin itself was built in 2024. We chose to build from scratch rather than buy and adapt an existing property because we wanted it to be right — not adequate, not someone else’s vision. Every decision came from some version of the same question: what would make a stay here genuinely memorable, rather than simply comfortable?

The floor-to-ceiling glazing faces the forest because that is what you want to look at. The Finnish sauna is authentic because Finland is where it was invented. The Drop Spa hot tub is positioned where the sky view is best. We did not build the largest cabin in Levi. We built the one we would want to stay in ourselves — and then made it available to other people looking for the same thing.

VHow We Host

We are not a management company. We are Colin and Livia.

01

We answer you.

When you enquire, you hear from us directly — not an automated response, not an assistant, not a platform message system. We try to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

02

We tell you the truth.

If the Northern Lights forecast is quiet for your dates, we would rather tell you than have you arrive with expectations the weather cannot meet. Honest information is more useful to you than marketing copy.

03

We set things up properly.

Before your arrival, everything at the cabin is prepared by people who care whether your stay is good — not as a service transaction, but because this is something we built and we live here.

04

We leave you alone.

Once you are settled in, the cabin is yours. We are available if you need us. We check in so you know how to reach us. We do not intrude on a stay that is going well.

05

We take problems seriously.

We host one cabin. Every booking matters to us in a way that a platform with hundreds of listings cannot replicate. When something is not right, we want to know and we will address it.
