A village at the foot of the fell.
Sirkka is the village that sits at the base of Levi fell, in the municipality of Kittilä. Most people who say they are going to “Levi” are going to Sirkka — Levi is the fell and the ski resort on it, and Sirkka is where the village, the shops, the restaurants and most of the accommodation actually are.
Levi is the largest ski resort in Finland and one of the country’s most visited winter destinations. That brings a genuine village with proper restaurants and services — but the cabin itself sits away from all of it, in private forest, with no shared access and no through traffic. Close enough to reach the village in minutes; far enough that you cannot hear it.
The whole area is above the Arctic Circle, at roughly 68° north. That latitude is what gives Levi its long dark winters — and the Northern Lights that come with them — and its midnight sun in summer.

How far is the cabin from Kittilä Airport?
The cabin is 16 km from Kittilä Airport (KTT) — approximately 15 to 20 minutes by car. It is one of the shortest airport-to-cabin transfers in Lapland, and it is a large part of why a week here does not feel like an expedition.
Kittilä receives direct flights from several UK and European airports during the winter season, roughly November to March. Book flights early for the school holiday weeks — they sell out, and they sell out first.
Airport transfers
Taxis and private transfers run from Kittilä Airport and are the simplest way to arrive. Book them in advance during peak season rather than expecting to find one on the rank. Hire cars are available at the airport if you would rather drive.
Driving and parking
The cabin has private, off-road parking for two vehicles, at no charge, directly at the door. An engine block heater is fitted. In a Lapland winter, overnight temperatures regularly fall below −20°C and a vehicle left out without a block heater may simply not start — this is a practical necessity, not a luxury, and it is included.
Winter driving
Roads around Levi are well maintained and cleared, and driving here is straightforward if you are sensible. Winter tyres are a legal requirement in Finland in the winter months and every hire car will have them. Leave more distance than you would at home, expect the light to be low or absent for much of the day, and watch for reindeer on the road — they do not move for cars.

How do guests reach the ski area?
Either take the ski bus from the stop at the end of the garden, or walk — the ski area is approximately ten minutes away on foot.
The ski bus
The R1 Ski Bus serves the Levi resort from Stop 12: Ounasranta, at the end of the cabin’s garden, every 30 minutes between 09:00 and 19:00. Connections to the rest of the resort are available via the R2 service at Zero Point (South Point).
With skis and boots and children, a bus that stops at the end of your own garden is worth considerably more than it sounds.
Walking
The ski area is roughly a ten-minute walk from the cabin. To be precise about what we are not saying: the cabin is not ski-in, ski-out. You cannot ski to or from the door. It is close to the skiing, which is a different and more honest claim.
Public transport
Within Levi, the ski bus network is the practical way to get about in winter and covers the resort, the village and the lifts. Taxis are readily available from Levi village, and worth booking ahead in peak weeks.
Shops, restaurants and services.
Levi is a proper resort village rather than a handful of cabins, so the practical things are all there: supermarkets for a weekly shop, a pharmacy, ski hire and ski schools, equipment shops, and a genuine spread of restaurants and bars — from quick post-ski food to serious Lappish cooking.
All of it is a few minutes from the cabin by car or on the ski bus. Most guests do one supermarket shop on the way in from the airport, cook in the cabin most nights, and eat out in the village a couple of times.
